Comment from the SYN Community Administrator February 2014

Welcome to all our members who have recently joined the South Yorkshire Network Community.
All community members are welcome to use the facility for posting comments, ideas & suggestions, and may also join other IET Communities in which they may have an interest.

The SYN main committee is still in need of a Vice Chair to support the heavy workload of the current Chair. If you have experience of running committees and would lke to help and have the time, please contact Alan Chater (Current Chair) or Brian Heathcote (Hon. Secretary)

A sub committee has started to look at the events programme for October 2014 to September 2015. This will form the basis of our budget application which has to be submitted by early May. Please let us have your suggestions for events for possible inclusion in next year's programme - we need your ideas (with brief details) - Please email Alan Chater or Brian Heathcote  by mid April latest.

I have recently joined the IET with a view of working towards IEng over the next 18 months or so. I am currently studying with the Open University although I am what would be considered a mature student.

I live in the Sheffield area and wondered if there are any local meetings where like minded engineers can meet to discuss general engineering topics or assist each other with CPD etc.

Kind regards,

Chris Lowe

Hi Alan,

No problem about the delayed reply, I know we all have busy lives! Unfortunately I have an exam to sit on the 9th of October so wouldn't be able to attend. However, I will keep an eye out for other chances to attend in the future!

Hi Chris,
Apologies for the belated response however an opportunity is open to you should you wish to attend on the 9th October, details of which are highlighted under the Upcoming Events mentioned above. This will enable you to meet new members and possibly identify possibilities to support your request.
Alan Chater - Chair SYLN.
