Engineering students shine in the boardroom
More than 900 engineering students from the University of Sheffield showcased problem-solving ideas they hope will transform the industrial world.

 




Event date changes

The lecture "Grid Supply Implications for Electric Vehices", scheduled in the current YHRN Newsletter for 15th May has had to be cancelled due to unavailability of a suitable speaker. It is hoped to replace this with a talk on "Tidal Wave power" in the near future.                                                                                                                                                                                                  
                                              
                                                                                       
The North Yorkshire LN Prestige Lecture on 25th June  - "A Perspective on Innovation", speaker Andy Hopper (IET President) is also listed below.
 


SME Innovation Scheme
The opportunity to participate in the SME Innovation Scheme (initiated by The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield and The Royal Academy of Engineering) is still available.
The SME Innovation Scheme offers these companies the opportunity to use the skills of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in developing solutions to satisfy problems that for whatever reason cannot be addressed in-house.

The South Yorkshire Network organises a programme of technical meetings, visits, colloquia, learned society and social events to meet the needs of the Institution members residing within, or close to, its boundary. These activities are normally open to members of other professional bodies and the general public.

About the Network

The South Yorkshire Network provides a local face of the IET through a main committee of active volunteers with support from full time IET staff. We have an active YP committee who, together with the main committee, plan and deliver our events programme.

Also covering parts of North Nottinghamshire and North East Derbyshire, the Network serves the following major centres: Sheffield, Rotherham, Mexborough, Doncaster, Barnsley, Worksop, Retford, Chesterfield, The Hope Valley and Bakewell.
