SpaceX Production Facility Tour - January 25th, 2014

Applications are now being accepted for the new IET Hearn Memorial Scholarship. This $1500/year scholarship is available to students pursuing engineering, computer science or technology education in Canada and the United States. The Southern California Network hosted a technical presentation on Sony 4K Ultra Television and Video. It was a great present

November 9th, 2013 - Northern California - Starting a Local Network Meeting
The meeting was a great success and the Northern California Local Network will be restarted. A big thank you to John Manville who organized the meeting location on the Cisco Campus in San Jose.

August 10th, 2013 - The Hearn Lecture, Toronto, Canada
California members Richard Tregaskes, Julian Harvey, and Bruno Vieri along with IET Staff members Fiona Dew and Ann Nann met with the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California on 16 August. The IET is planning to establish a lecture series, an annual PATW, events at USC, and possibly a student chapter. We were warmly received by Dean Yortsos, Prof Gupta, Professor and Department Chair of Electrical Engineering, Louise Yates, Senior Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs, Kelly Goulis, Senior Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Programs, and Cauligi Raghavendra, Vice Dean for Globalization.
Scott from Sonoma State University participated in the regional Present around the World competition on 10 August in Toronto. Scott will receive his B.S. in electrical engineering next year. His presentation was entitled "Raspberry Roof Gardens".
Julian Harvey, David McQuiggan, Richard Tregaskes, Kevin Murray, and Naomi Climer were delegates at the volunteers conference the same weekend. Julian was a panelist for the discussion on inspiring volunteers. David received an award for his outstanding work with FIRST Lego League. Naomi presented a view from the Board of Trustees. Richard accepted an award on behalf of the California Network for being one of the most active networks.
