Great meeting in Stevenage last night. The Optimisation and Control of Multiple Energy Carriers - Presented by Dr Spyros Skarvelis-Kazakos.
The presentation showed how energy systems can be balanced to meet peak demand using multiple energy sources including renewables. National and micro-grids can be managed through hierarchical agent based controls. Additionally, multiple microgrids can be linked to form a virtual grid.
It will be really interesting to see what effects are created when energy storage can be incorporated into the grid and micro-grids and virtual grids are commonplace.
