Wednesday 11 September 2013. Electrical Manufacturing Lecture

Speaker: Neil O'Sullivan
Subject: Automatic Reclosers for a Smart Grid
Location: Engineering House, 447 Upper Edward St, Brisbane
Time: 5.30pm (refreshments) for 6pm

The 15th in this annual series, a local manufacturing engineer will bring a unique perspective to an interesting topic. Neil O'Sullivan is the managing director of Noja Power, who specialise in research, development, manufacturing and supply of low and medium voltage switchgear specialising in auto reclosing circuit breakers for industrial, infrastructure and electricity distribution utilities.

Wednesday 9 October 2013. Student Evening incorporating the IET "Present Around the World" Queensland Final

Location: Engineering House, 447 Upper Edward St, Brisbane
Time: 5.30pm (refreshments) for 6pm

This will a joint meeting of IET Queensland and Engineers Australia Queensland Division Electrical Branch and also the ITEE Branch. Participant nominations will be called from the universities in Queensland. This is always a high calibre event with students presenting their final year project in a competitive format based on presentation skills.

Thursday 12 December. 2013 Annual General Meeting and Christmas Luncheon

Location: Rydges Hotel Southbank
Time: 12pm pre-lunch drinks for 12.30pm start

Our annual general meeting and Christmas Luncheon. This is always a fun event, with excellent food and fantastic company. If the 2012 event was anything to go by, then it should be a cracker!

Wednesday 13 March 2013. Informatics Lecture

Speaker: Dr. Jason Smith, PhD - Assistant Director - CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) Australia
Subject: “Cyber security and control systems – a national CERT perspective
Location: Engineering House, 447 Upper Edward St, Brisbane
Time: 5.30pm (refreshments) for 6pm

This was a joint meeting of IET Queensland and Engineers Australia Queensland Division ITEE Branch, the 12th in the annual Informatics Lecture series.

Friday 19 April 2013. Present Around the World National Final

Location: Rydges Hotel, Southbank, Brisbane.
Time: 10am onwards

The Australian Final of the prestigious IET Present Around the World Competition shall brought together the finalists from each state to battle it out on a range of interesting topics. Queensland was be represented by Adam Clarke, on the subject of "Deadbeat Control of Non-Linear ECP Magnetic Levitation System using Adaptive Techniques". The winner will go onto the Asia Pacific Final in Brunei in August.

Friday 19 April 2013. Present Around the World National Final Gala Dinner

Location: Rydges Hotel, Southbank, Brisbane.
Time: 7pm for 7.30pm start - Evening Formal Dinner

Bringing together the Brisbane engineering community, this event was a fantastic black-tie networking opportunity, attracting around 50 guests. The winner for the Present Around the World competition was announced: Kelsey Kennedy from Western Australia, on the subject of 'Imaging the Mechanical Properties of Breast Tissue'.
